AREA OBITUARIES – Peggy Copeland

Peggy Jean Bagwell Martin Copeland, age 91 of Fulton, Ky., passed away Thurs., April 9, 2026 at Green Acres in Mayfield, Ky.  
She was born on April 12, 1934 in Hickman County, Ky., to the late John and Rebecka Harp Bagwell.  
She was of the Baptist faith. 
Peggy lived a long life with determination and grit and never met a stranger. Her first job was a dishwasher at the age of 12, in her older brother’s restaurant. Throughout the years, she held many different positions, her most satisfying was working for Kentucky Probation and Parole, from which she retired in 2008 at the age of 74.  
She is survived by daughters, Kelly Copeland and Deanna (Isam) Showli, both of Tennessee; grandsons, Adam and Noah Showli; sister, Judy Knox of Missouri; and many nieces, nephews and friends that will cherish her memory for years to come.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray L. Martin, Sr.; husband, Billy D. Copeland; son, Ray L. Martin, Jr.;  an infant daughter, Dawn Rose Martin; brothers, Joseph (Jodi) Bagwell, John Bagwell, Edwin Bagwell and William (Sonny) Bagwell; and sisters, Virginia (Sue) Osborne, Dorothy Mautone, Carolyn Greiffins, Patsy Ussery, Mary Foulk and Claudia Slayton.
Graveside services will be held Sat., April 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Columbus Cemetery with Rev. Chad Frizzell officiating.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at the service time.
