SFMS Lady Red Devils roll past Greenfield Lady Jackets, 11-5

The South Fulton Middle School Lady Red Devils put together a strong offensive performance on the road Tues., Aug. 18, defeating the Greenfield Lady Jackets 11-5.
South Fulton jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning. An error brought home one run before Olivia Morehead delivered a two-run single to give the Lady Devils an early advantage.
The visitors added to their lead in the third inning when Morehead tripled to right field and Aniston Allen lined out, with each play bringing a run across the plate.
Morehead turned in a dominant performance in the circle to earn the victory. She allowed two hits and five runs over six innings while striking out 15 and walking 14.
Ava S. took the loss for Greenfield. She worked all six innings, allowing five hits and 12 runs, five of them earned, while striking out nine and walking eight.
Morehead also led South Fulton at the plate, driving in three runs while going 2-for-4. She and Allen each collected two hits as the Lady Devils continued to pressure the Greenfield defense.
Emma Hamrick reached base four times via walks, helping South Fulton draw eight walks as a team. Aveyanna Johnson added two stolen bases.
South Fulton also played a clean game defensively, committing no errors. Hamrick recorded a team-high 15 defensive plays.
Greenfield was led offensively by Ava, who collected two hits in three at-bats. Neveah R., Kylee M. and Adley L. each drove in a run for the Lady Jackets.
The Greenfield lineup showed patience at the plate, drawing 14 walks. Sadie T. and Kylee led the team with three walks apiece. Kylee and Ava each stole multiple bases, with the Lady Jackets finishing with six stolen bases.
The Lady Red Devils will hit the road again Thurs., Aug. 20 for a matchup at Graves County Middle School. The game is set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
