Fulton Commission set to convene Aug. 24

August 21, 2026

The Fulton City Commission will consider a series of measures involving nuisance properties, public safety, utility improvements and property tax rates during its regular meeting Mon., Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
Among the most notable items on the agenda is the second reading of an ordinance that would amend the city’s Code of Ordinances to establish a new section addressing “Chronic Nuisance Properties.”
Ordinance 2027-17 would add provisions governing properties that are deemed chronic nuisances within the city. Commissioners will consider the ordinance following its first reading.
The commission also is scheduled to consider the hiring of Derek Goodson as a Fulton police officer, following a recommendation from Police Chief Gentry.
Several agenda items involve the city’s natural gas system and upcoming infrastructure work.
Commissioners will consider purchasing radio detection utility locating equipment from Eastco Associates Inc. The equipment would assist in locating underground utilities and could be used in connection with the city’s utility operations.
The commission also will consider rescinding Municipal Order 2026-140 and authorizing City Manager to purchase gas meters from Holland Supply Company.
Two additional measures would move the city forward with planned natural gas system improvements. Municipal Order 2027-44 would authorize the city manager to advertise a request for qualifications for Phase 1 Gas Meter Replacement Contractor Prequalification, while Municipal Order 2027-45 would authorize a request for qualifications for the natural gas distribution system replacement project.
The meeting agenda also includes personnel matters. Commissioners will consider accepting the resignation of Kimberly Brann as ASAP Coordinator.
Another item expected to receive attention is a discussion of property tax rates. The agenda does not specify a proposed rate or any changes, so commissioners are expected to discuss the matter during the meeting.
Before the formal agenda, the commission will hear remarks and requests from visitors, followed by a report from the city attorney.
Commissioners also will consider approval of the minutes from the July 13 regular meeting.
The meeting will begin with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by roll call.
The Fulton City Commission meeting is open to the public.
