FCHS Lady Pilots defeat SFHS Lady Red Devils in four sets

The Fulton County High School Lady Pilots picked up a four-set victory over the South Fulton High School Lady Red Devils on Mon., Sept. 21, winning 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 26-24.
Fulton County battled through three close sets, taking the first two before South Fulton answered with a third-set victory. The Lady Pilots then held off the Lady Red Devils in another tight fourth set to secure the match.
Brooklyn Owens led the Lady Pilots offensively with 12 kills on 40 attacks. Aubrei Wilson and Tamaria Fitzpatrick added three kills apiece, while Taylan Hendrix recorded two kills.
Fulton County finished with 20 kills on 67 attacks for a .090 hitting percentage.
At the service line, Owens led the way with five aces. Sydnee Whitten added three aces, while Hendrix recorded two. Wilson, Fitzpatrick and Ava Wheeler each had one ace as the Lady Pilots totaled 13 service aces.
Whitten and Hendrix also helped direct the offense with seven assists apiece, accounting for all 14 of Fulton County's assists recorded in the statistics.
Defensively, Owens paced the Lady Pilots with 31 digs, followed by Wilson with 20 and Whitten with 12. Hendrix contributed 10 digs, while Fitzpatrick and Wheeler each had six. Maci Curry recorded two digs and Molly Parker added one.
At the net, Parker recorded two blocks and Wilson added one as Fulton County finished with three total blocks.
Karleigh Morgan paced the South Fulton attack with eight kills on 27 attempts, while Haley Dance added four kills on 19 attempts. Rylee Morris and Cali Irvan each recorded four kills, and Gabi Long and Bella Caksackkarcontributed three kills apiece. Kay Wallace finished with one kill.
Morgan also recorded a team-high 8.0 kills per match set over the three-set contest, while Irvan was a perfect 4-for-4 attacking, finishing with a 1.000 hitting percentage.
South Fulton received strong setting performances from Makenna Haleyand Wallace. Haley finished with 14 assists, while Wallace added six assists.
Long led the serving effort with eight aces, while Haley recorded five aces and Wallace added three. Morgan and Dance each had one ace.
Defensively, Wallace led the Lady Red Devils with 21 digs. Irvan finished with 18 digs, Long had 16, Haley recorded eight and Baksackkar added six.
In serve receiving, Irvan handled five receptions, while Long had three, Wallace two, and Haley and Morris one each.
Morgan finished with eight kills, while Long contributed three kills, four aces and 16 digs in the three-set match.
The Lady Pilots improved to 4-12, while the Lady Red Devils fell to 2-13.
